The Bushcraft blade is a fixed-blade made from carbon steel and measures 1/8” in thickness, 4.3 inches long, with an overall length of 9.1 inches. It weighs 5.4 ounces when the sheath is included for added protection against corrosion.

On the other hand, the Morakniv Companion is also a fixed-blade made from carbon steel (although there’s an option for stainless steel) and measures 0.08 inches thick, 4.1 inches long, with an overall length of 8.6inches.

This knife weighs 3.9 ounces when including its protective sheath against corrosion or rusting.

Handle

Mora Bushcraft vs Garberg

The handle of both knives is constructed from a rubberized material. However, there are some subtle differences. The Bushcraft blade has a thicker handle with an indented finger well, providing more grip and comfort when using the knife for extended periods.

On the other hand, the Morakniv Companion features a thinner handle, offering a lighter feel in your hand.

Sheath

The Morakniv Companion comes with a hard plastic sheath for easy portability and storage. The Bushcraft blade also includes a hard plastic sheath, but it comes with some additional accessories.

These additional accessories include a built-in diamond sharpener and Swedish fire steel, which can be attached to the side of the sheath for easy access. This is perfect for those who need quick access to a reliable tool while they are out in nature.

Morakniv Companion Review

morakniv companion

I have had the pleasure of using my Morakniv Companion for some time now, and I can honestly say it is a great knife. The blade is made from carbon steel, which gives it superior strength and durability.

It has a full tang design that runs three-quarters of the way up, allowing for powerful and precise cuts. The handle is ergonomically designed with a soft friction grip made of TPE rubber that provides an excellent hold on your knife.

The blade is easy to sharpen and maintain, but it does require some extra care due to its carbon steel material. The polymer knife sheath comes with a belt clip which makes the Morakniv Companion extremely portable on your outdoor adventures.

In my opinion, the Morakniv Companion is a must-have for any outdoors enthusiast. Its versatility and dependability make it ideal for camping or bushcrafting activities like cutting firewood and preparing meals.

I have found that this knife has proven to be an indispensable tool in all of my outdoor endeavors!

Pros

  • High-quality stainless steel blade that is corrosion-resistant and easy to sharpen
  • Lightweight and easy to carry
  • Comes with a black coating for extra protection against rust and wear

Cons

  • Black coating may be difficult to clean after use in food preparation
  • Can be more expensive than the companion knife
  • Not suitable for chopping wood

Morakniv Bushcraft Review

I recently purchased a Morakniv Bushcraft knife, and I am very pleased with it. This is the perfect tool for my outdoor adventures, whether camping or bush crafting.

The black carbon steel blade of this robust knife has been hardened to optimal strength making it extremely resistant under pressure – something that was important to me when looking for an ideal outdoors knife.

The DLC coating ensures rust protection as well as prevents reflections from the blade, and the spine of the blade has been ground so that you can use it together with a fire starter.

I also appreciate how easy to maintain this knife is – all I need do is wipe my knife after using it and oil its blade. The included sheath contains both a belt loop and clip for convenience which makes keeping your knife close at hand a breeze.

Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase of the Morakniv Bushcraft Knife and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an ideal outdoors knife that is both robust and easy to maintain.

It’s been essential in helping me get through tough tasks like cutting firewood or preparing meals – something that definitely comes in handy when spending time outside!

Pros

  • Large, durable blade ideal for chopping wood or preparing food
  • Comes with a leather sheath for easy storage and transport
  • Fire steel-compatible, making it great for camping trips or bushcrafting

Cons

  • Smaller than the bushcraft knife, making it less ideal for larger tasks like chopping wood.
  • Stainless steel version does not throw sparks well when used with a fire steel
  • Not suitable for chopping wood

Are Mora Knives Good For Bushcraft?

make a plan for survival

Yes, Mora knives are great for bushcraft. Their blades are strong and durable enough to handle a variety of tasks, such as cutting wood or skinning game animals.

They also come in multiple blade shapes that allow you to pick the one that best suits your needs.

With their lightweight design, Mora knives are easy to carry and use for long periods of time in the outdoors.

What Steel Is In Mora Bushcraft?

Should I Opt In For The Stainless Steel Option

The Mora Bushcraft is made of a high carbon steel, specifically the Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel. This type of alloy provides an excellent durability and sharpness, making it an ideal choice for outdoor use.

Additionally, the high carbon content allows this steel to be hardened and tempered, which gives the blade its superior toughness and edge retention.
