Materials
This backpack, like many other quality backpacks, is made from high-quality 500-denier polyester. This material is meant to add additional strength and support without a bulky look. The zipper is constructed of durable polyester and steel.
When feeling it, I really liked the material. I didn’t get any holes after vigorous use of this bag, but with that said, this still has to be handled with a little care to prevent any possible holes. I’d think that holes would form only under the worst of conditions – so treat it decently.
The overall material is great for its price and I would recommend it.
Comfort
This backpack has many great comfortability features. One feature in particular is the padded shoulder straps which adds extra support to your shoulders. The several security fasteners are also great features for just the right fit. This allows for proper weight distribution and zero strain on any particular part of your body.
This is crucial for wearing everyday carry backpacks for an extended period of time. There are also a hip belt for additional comfort.
There is one thing I didn’t like. The pack doesn’t ventilate extremely well on the back, so I got a little overheated every once in a while outdoors.
Durability
SOG was named in honor of the U.S. Special Ops that fought in Vietnam. All of their products were designed to be tough. This EDC bag is made from 500-denier polyester, which is one of the toughest materials for a tactical bag. This bag can handle heavy loads with ease.
In fact, one day I left it out in the snow, and nothing happened, no water got leaked in, and the exterior was just a little damp. Overall, I’m happy with the durability, especially for its price. Even if you somehow break it, there is a lifetime warranty for this pack.
Organization
This bag offers many different pockets. Each pock is used for different purposes. The main compartment has several pockets in there, making it easy to put a laptop, a small first aid kit, and other essentials.
All of the zippered pockets are protective, so don’t worry about scratches.
To add on, these have side compartments meant to hold hydration packs and velcro for anything essential you may want to put there. I liked how everything was easy to access and the organization was top notch.

Performance as a Bugout, EDC, and Outdoors Bag
When inspecting this, it was pretty easy to tell that this could be used as a bugout bag because it was pretty low-key, not attracting attention. This also had enough storage for 72 hours worth of survival in the wilderness.
Now, when considering if this was a good EDC, I obviously measured its initial weight, which was about three pounds, making it considerably light. This backpack can also be compact if necessary, and I could easily carry this around everywhere. This also had multiple compartments for the organization, which was nice.
Now, after that, I used it for a couple of days outdoors. The three additional pounds didn’t bother me personally. I did activities like hiking and fishing. The first thing I noticed was it wasn’t the best water repellent backpack or dirt-proof.
However, it was water and dirt-resistant, which was very helpful. This also had multiple features MOLLE webbings for convenient access to flashlights or other tools I needed.
So, all in all, it performs amazingly for bugout and EDC and decently for an outdoor bag. But, for the price, I’d say the SOG Opord is worth it.
Here is bugout bag organization 101.
